Swiss audio brand Wattson Audio today officially released the Madison Phono phono preamplifier, a compact unit that combines a specially designed analog input circuit with precision digital equalization, supporting moving magnet, moving coil, and DS Audio optical cartridges.[1]
The Madison Phono is designed to meet the diverse needs of modern vinyl systems. Its core adopts a modular architecture; each Madison Phono is equipped with an independent voltage, current, or optical input board, allowing users to flexibly choose according to their cartridge type.[1]
The phono preamplifier offers three input board options: the voltage input board for moving magnet (MM) cartridges; the current input board optimized for moving coil (MC) cartridges; and the optical input board specially designed for DS Audio optical cartridges. This modular design enables a single platform to be compatible with three different signal types.[1]
In terms of signal processing, the Madison Phono combines an analog input front end with digital equalization, using precision algorithms to correct the RIAA curve, ensuring accurate reproduction of equalization curves from different record eras.
